Council Elections 2012

The 2012 local government general elections will be held across NSW on Saturday 8 September 2012, excluding Shellharbour and Wollongong City Councils which were elected in 2011 for a five year term.

There are a number of things State and local government are doing together to ensure a strong and sustainable local government sector through a project known as Destination 2036, which will shape the future of local government in NSW.

Quality governance is one of the key strategic directions of Destination 2036. This includes actions to attract diverse and informed candidates to stand for election, and to train and support elected councillors in their role.
